Really high ranked/high stats kids from DC's school are much more likely to apply to U Penn/Columbia/Brown/Hopkins/U Chicago/Northwestern than Dartmouth/Princeton as their reaches; they are not applying to rural or small town SLACs (think Bowdoin/Bates/Kenyon/Carleton) but are applying to schools like Occidental, Fordham, and Macalester in droves.
