At the same time, what used to be a shining school on a hill, MCPS is backsliding into a morass. All under the iron tight control of a clique of political activists and sociology professors pretending to be politicians.

They are able to do this mostly due to apathy. Most people do not vote. Especially in local elections. The MoCo squad knows and loves this. They can pass all kinds of crazy legislation without so much as a whimper of opposition. Have you noticed all those bike lanes going up that no one uses? That's just one example of a tiny minority completely gaming the system to their whims.

Can't blame 'em. It's there for the taking. And they sure as hell take it.

I'm not much of a political guy, but it is time to break this iron fist of lunacy before this county hits rock bottom. Please tell me that there are some people out there who just want safe streets, quality schools, decent roads to drive on, financial solvency and not a laundry list of pilot programs that are suspect, at best.

I think there’s a ton of people who want what you want. The  problem is as you said apathy… very few care enough to actually do the research. And unfortunately also there are not a ton of options for who to vote for.

My advice is get involved in local politics and try to get others as well. I’ve been doing it - it’s not easy - but has resulted in many more paying attention. An easy site to send people to is lefttovote.org which has the registration link as well as the arguments for why this makes sense. [/quote]
