Don't you think that the New York Times is for people who live in the NY metro area, not just the five boroughs? Isn't the the Washington Post Metro Section targeted at a wider area than just the city limits of DC? It is generally considered appropriate to use city names as a short-hand for metropolitan areas when giving a name to a newspaper, blog, web forum, etc. Signed, a resident of Capitol Hill who is sick of people making this silly, pedantic distinction.
