Friends who were triple vaxxed and still got COVID said it was still horrible and they were knocked out for days. Local hospitals are still stretched to the limit. This variant is incredibly contagious. If wearing masks protects our girls and community members such as teachers with immune weaknesses then that is the least we can do. As far as I have heard, all local Private schools are stepping up COVID precautions. DMV is a global hot spot. I do hope wearing masks outside will not be necessary in a few weeks though.
“Many people are saying…” BS. I know 20 people who were triple vaxxed and got covid and it was a cold.
My friends said they were wiped out for days
And a fully Vaccinated 14 year old dd of friend became really sick. It may be like a cold for many but nonetheless local hospitals are overwhelmed so a sizable Minority are becoming sick. Also we do not yet know whether they will develop long haul COVID as did many people with Delta who had mild Symptoms initially.
Local hospitals are not overwhelmed. They are understaffed to begin with and people who test positive start thinking they’re dying and show up to the ER with no symptoms are very late symptoms clogging up the ERs if they’re even clogged for people who are actually really sick.
The hospitals themselves are reporting that they are overwhelmed. Since they are the ones actually carrying out this important medical work, we should defer to their opinion. We could not get medical attention over the break and our family practice was closed. They also (both doctors and nurses at our regular clinic) said that they are exhausted and have never been so busy and had to have a break. I completely Understand but it is quite scary when you cannot find access to medical help when it is needed. If wearing masks helps to slow this train down to where health systems can manage it then we should all do our part.
