Now that masks and vaccines can’t protect you from covid. We have two New Years parties, a ski trip and 3 birthday parties in the next 3 weeks. I told DH I think we should skip the new year parties. These will be 100% unmasked. I was looking forward to socializing but it just seems like a bad idea. I also just reserved an indoor party space for my unvaccinated preschooler’s birthday. Not sure if we should go ahead or cancel.
Congrats for spreading anti-vaxxer talking points, OP!
NP. This isn't exactly anti-vax. Reports this week indicate that cloth masks are nearly worthless against omicron, and the vast majority of children wear cloth masks. Trying to find legit KF94 or KN95 masks for my very petite 5yo has been nearly impossible, much as I wish that wasn't the case. As to the vaccines...they are fantastic and highly effective at preventing hospitalization and death, but you are kidding yourself if you think they prevent infection with omicron. Look, my DH and I are both vaxxed and booster (I am high risk), our 5yo is fully vaccinated, and our 1yo will be as soon as she is eligivle... but I,am not naive enough to think that is going to keep us from getting sick. And mild or not, a case of covid in our house means our toddler is out of daycare for 14 days, 5yo home from K for 10 days, and DH and I are both home from work for 10 days. I dont want to risk that, so no indoor parties or events for us.
If you stay home when you feel sick but don’t test for covid, you don’t have to stay home for all that time. Just while you are having symptoms.
This depends on what your school/daycare/place of employment wants upon return. Some are asking for proof of negative covid test for any illness.
