I’m totally cool with her not ever being a teacher. We don’t need someone that’s been brainwashed to believe Lucy Caulkins reading methods and math worksheets printed off the internet are gold standard teaching methods.
Oh gross. Is she a Lucy Caulkins supporter? That should disqualify her immediately.
No. The pp’s are complaining that she’s never been a teacher. I’m saying that does not bother me at all since teachers around here have been brainwashed into the Lucy Caulkins methods and believing they teach math well with printouts from the internet. Having someone from outside the classroom looking at this from an analytical perspective, such as this new appointment, is a welcome change. Objectively seeing what works and what doesn’t, rather than getting caught up in the cycle of chasing ridiculous learning ‘theories’ to keep teachers engaged rather than focusing on learning that keeps students engaged. Trust me, teachers hate Lucy Caulkins as much as you do since it gives them zero flexibility in the classroom. They are required by their districts or by the state to use LC.

OMG you really thing that TEACHERS want something to do with Lucy Caulkins or don’t want to do what works objectively. You must work at a small employer to not know how very large businesses and bureaucracies work.
It's this. In math it's really fun that the APS "curriculum" doesn't even try to give resources for some of it's standards.
