However, we've stopped using disposable plates and plasticware even for parties at our home. Several years ago, we purchased an extra set of Corelle and inexpensive stainless flatware. We keep this set of service for 48 in a crate in a storage closet, take it out for parties, toss everything in the dishwasher after the party and when it comes out, pack it back in the crate for the next party. We've used this stuff a few dozen times and it has more than paid for itself in just the savings of paper plates, plasticware, and extra garbage bags, etc that we haven't purchased.
Good call. I once found big boxes of perfectly cute wineglasses (24 to a box, I think) for not much more than a bag of 24 plastic "disposable" ones. I bought two boxes, and use them all the time. As for tissues, OP, no, I've never worked somewhere they were automatically provided. That said, we had a pretty pliable office manager who would order anything we asked for, so I'm sure I could have requested them, provided they were in the OfficeMax catalog. She used to buy those plastic barrels of "party mix" for one the VPs... he went through one a week.
