Christmas cookies are so disappointing. They almost always look way better than they taste. The store-bought ones are especially awful. What is it about Christmas cookies that they’re nearly always dry and crumbly?
What kind are you talking about?
Bad ones have probably been made in advance, frozen and defrosted. Don't do this. Fresh only. They won't last more than a few days before they start going stale.
I've also had lots of bad tasting decorated sugar cookies. There are lots of bad sugar cookie recipes on the internet. Royal Icing doesn't taste good and if you pair that with a cookie recipe that focuses on structure not taste, yuck. They don't have to be terrible but many are.
I just don't eat those unless I made them. I see too many kids helping and licking their fingers as they go.
