9-11, parent talks to their coach.  A simple "put a stop to it" will lead to a conversation between coaches and the coach of the other team will talk to his/her players.  Basically, they will get the "same club" talk, and be told if they do that crap they will be done.

12-13 - depends on the kid and their willingness to talk to their coach. If they are willing to do so on their own -- and will actually do it and not just tell you they will do it -- then great.  They can say what is below for older kids to say;

14 and up -- tell the coach you are getting beat up in these scrimmages and that's done.  Next time it happens you are going to haul off and punch the kid who does it.

If your 12-13 year old is not willing to talk to their coach (not uncommon) then you talk to them and say -- x is happening.  How do you want her to respond?

Let me just say -- if you are having a inter-club scrimmage of say u14s and a defender goes off scream "f you you little b---.  You spiked me.  Get your g-damn ass out of here or I am going to punch your face in."  Things won't have to get physical.  Coaches will be properly embarassed for allowing it to occur, and it will stop.  And, you will have cleared it in advance with your kid's own coach.

As an aside -- very often forwards are the weak players on a club team.  It is the position that you can "hide" your weaker players in.  Put them pretty much anywhere else and you give up goals So -- you play them in forward positions
