I guess I am the only one who finds the baby registry cringeworthy. 100 people at a baby shower? Do I have to sit thru the opening of all these gifts? I am buying an outfit and calling it “done”. I am responsible for my own children’s material needs and don’t think I need to finance yours. Sorry for my rant and congrats on the baby.
Not OP. A baby shower is supposed to help provide things a new baby needs. Without a registry, it's impossible to accomplish this because no one knows what you need and people duplicate. You'll just end up with a million baby blankets, 5 Sophies, and a bunch of impractical, cute newborn outfits. I've never been to a baby shower with 100 people and I assume you wouldn't open the gifts at the party with that many guests. You are not obligated to go just because you were invited.
