Please search “golden handcuffs”, and that’s usually used for people that had choice to start with. These people were CHILDREN, usually manipulated by the adults in their lives. The damage is done to these people long before they have the privilege of choice and self determination, and by then, it’s been beaten into them that they don’t have any of that.

Having difficulties in adulthood has nothing to do with their choice to stay in the public eye and being attention seeking. Otherwise there would be thousands of former child actors constantly in the news. Demi comes up with a new excuse for her behavior every year. And her CA sober stance is not the way to treat her addiction issue nor her mental illness. She needs longterm intensive treatment.[/quote]
