I will sometimes gently tease the older kids and teens who clearly desperately still want to ToT but also want to appear a little cool and not ask "trick or treat". I laughingly make them say it, and guaranteed one kid always takes one for the team and says it. I've never had rude kids, they always say thank you, and I'd so much rather they be out like that than in a basement somewhere getting into trouble.
