What's so wrong with this questionnaire, helping children ask and talk about how they react when they get upset, how they feel about certain situations, etc. These are useful emotional development skills and insights.
1. Some of the questions could make a kid think something is wrong with them if they do not have a support system at the school. And, one person's view of "friends" may not be the same as another's. 2. A lot could depend on what happened at lunch the day the kid fills out the questionnaire. 3. Why did they throw in the race question? 4. Lots of kids would not answer honestly. 5. The drama queens could really go to town on this. I would not want to fill this out for myself and have someone analyzing it.
The responses are not anonymous and stay with your kids files. Fcps claims the data will be protected and secure. Yet they have not addressed multiple data breaches from the past year involving staff info, student info, special ed 504s and IEP breaches, student info from hundreds of South County students being accidentally released this past summer, and who knows what else. Do we really need to waste precious educational hours and money on a stupid survey that has nothing to do with learning, is poorly designed (yet again) and will likely not be kept private or secure?
