The child had been tested for Covid and is negative. Some of these responses are bonkers.
Oh for Christ’s sake, THE OTHER PARENTS DO NOT KNOW THAT!!!! Seriously, wtf is wrong with you? Your toddler comes home from the playground and a day later get the symptoms of a cold (which appears like covid). You pull him out of preschool, take off work, tell your nanny not to come in and get your toddler tested for covid (which is painful). You get tested for covid along with your husband and nanny. Everyone waits three days for the negative results. You’re out the work days and the pediatrician’s copay. And for what? For the inconsiderate nanny who brought a snotty kid to the playground? What part of “we’re in a pandemic” do you not understand?
It would only be necessary to test the child, and rapid tests are available same day. My ped turns around the other kind in 24 hrs. If yours takes 3 days, go somewhere else. I don’t like taking a sick day but it happens. It’s part of having a kid.
NP here. The rapid tests are proven unreliable. Your pediatrician, of all people, should know that. They’re especially dangerous for young children who are super spreaders.
You get same day PCR tests. I just did one for my toddler last week.
