Where do you live? I could give a recommendation for a place in south Arlington. They don’t specialize in kids but I take my kids there.
Sorry, we live in Rockville. I guess I am looking for a place that shampoos, does a simple cut, and blow dries. A little more than a kid's cut location where they just spray water, quickly trim and walk out. Great idea, but she is in middle school and I am looking for middle of the road. Not the simple $20, but not $60. It doesn't seem like there are many places like this.
np Basically you want to underpay a professional.
Lol $60 for a trim is nuts
Exactly, I pay $65 for a shampoo, conditioner, scalp massage, cut with layers, thinning, blow dry, and flat iron. There should be an option in the $30-40 range for a shampoo, cut, and blow-dry for tweens. Asking for $65+ for a middle schooler is a joke.
I don't want to spend extra money like anyone else, though reading the comments, I can understand that a stylist who is doing the whole "experience" (shampoo, cut, dry, style) shouldn't/wouldn't want to charge less just b/c someone is 12 vs 35. The stylist is providing the same service and same commitment of time and experience, so why should the rates change? Does a nail salon charge a different price for a mani for a tween? Honest question, I don't know. Interestingly, the barber we go to charges more for younger kids than adults, which I found odd, but can understand that dealing with young kids in the chair can be an extra level of patience and effort required. I was happy to age out of that upcharge! I would say, find a place that does a good job that makes your tween happy and then just pay whatever the rate is (and stretch the appointments as far apart as you can!).
