What you do about this is up to you.  If you can't handle, EVER, having something like this happen in your home, then you just can't have anyone in there other than you and your DH, because the risk of damage will always be there.  I guess it's a question of what X service is worth to you.  We've had cleaning people for years and have not once had a problem, but I do recognize that something could happen, they could break an item, etc.  I'm willing to take that risk because the value of not having to clean my own home is worth it to me.  If it's not worth it to you, then don't take the risk.

I too have relaxed a lot about this kind of stuff since having kids.  In particular I used to get upset about stains on rugs and furniture, and now I really don't care.  That said, it wasn't until I had kids that my mindset shifted so I appreciate that (assuming you don't have kids right now) you can't automatically change how you think.  [/quote]
