The mom serves salad and then starches.  Like, a big bowl of salad, and then roasted sweet potatoes, white rice, biscuits, and dessert.  They gently try to convert me. I firmly refuse. They less gently try to convert me.  The very second everyone is halfway through their dessert, I announce that this has been lovely but I need to head back to get some things done before getting ready for work the next day. My work friend is like "but you didn't finish your cookie and ice cream!" sounding bizarrely hurt.  I assure her I'm full from the (starch) dinner. She insists I wrap the cookie and take it with me. I thank everyone, wrap the cookie, ask if I can help clean up, and nobody stands. I sit back down.

I was stuck there another hour and a half. Next day at work the woman tells me how much her family likes me and how much they think they can help me. I smile and say "But I don't have any issues I need help with!" I walk away. I am "busy" every time she tries to talk to me after that. I refuse all invites to hang out. [/quote]
