My son joined Bethesda Super Y this year. A few of the new parents were asking which clubs in NOVA/DC go to the big name college showcases like Dallas Cup, Surf Cup, Disney, Adidas Potomac, and all the big ticket best of the a country tournaments? My son plays for an ECNL club, but we really only do Jefferson Cup, Bethesda Cup, and one down in Raleigh. Are there local clubs who go to Disney or surf?
SYC goes to Disney. I don't think a college recruiter has ever picked a player from the showcase though. Big waste of $$$.
Lol. You’re stupid as hell! That’s one of the nations biggest recruiting hub. Troll person^^^
Really? Then tell me who has gotten picked from this area at the "nations biggest recruiting hub" in the past couple of years?????
You do realize how stupid you sound, right? Perhaps you are unaware how recruiting works. It’s so rare that a player goes to one showcase and gets recruited and offered a roster spot for a Univeristy based on one showing. This is an event that draws hundreds of coaches and Elite level players so that they begin forging long-term recruiting relationships with one another — or solidifying their relationship by the coaches seeing how a player stacks up against other high level players from all corners of the nation. A player can be exposed to a coach that would never ever see them play outside of this tournament. So my question to you is how do you know that one of these SYC or NOVA players didn’t solidify their chances to play ncaa hall or benefit from the tournament?
This sounds like a marketing piece from a club or the tournament. Almost all of SYC boys are going to Radford or Longwood. You think they made those connections at Disney? Take the trip for the competition and experience. Don't go for the carrot of somehow making connections with schools that are outside the region. Very few NOVA players go outside 4-5 hours away and you can connect with those schools through Jefferson Cup, Bethesda and other events within day's drive.
Exactly. The Club's coach made those connections happened. Not Disney!
Sounds like you guys only play Jefferson. That’s fine, but I think Disney helped my child.
Ok, Mr. Spears.
