Can you please explain how Montgomery County is a socialist regime?
MoCo elected a tyrant like Erlich.
Which private enterprises has Elrich nationalized?
https://redmaryland.com/2019/11/comrade-elrichs-kirwan-plan-government-run-pot-stores/ Yes it's a right wing blog, but the quotes from Elrich are real and this is actually something he wants to do. Instead of privatize liquor control... moco has a liquor monopoly that loses money and only plays to the hands of powerful public employee unions... Elrich wants to expand it to include marijuana. State controlled, socialist marijuana. That's the most Takoma Park thing I've ever heard.
If government control of liquor stores is the benchmark for socialism, I ask Virginia to step forward and take a bow.
dp.. don't be obtuse. That was just an example. MoCo is not completely socialist, but some of its policies knocks on the door of it and is way more left leaning than many other counties, especially around here.
Oh, of course. What other private enterprises has Elrich nationalized? Or do you think socialist is just a synonym for liberal, or maybe very liberal?
Except Elrich isn't a liberal. He's authoritarian anti-capitalist. He's authoritarian on Covid policies and making Moco a police state. Also a liberal would be in favor of more housing with fewer regulations so that markets can open up and make homes for the kind of "diverse" people Elrich claims to want to live here. Instead, he's like this hellish mix of Socialism and NIMBYism. In his hatred of so-called new money, he is just protecting the old money, AKA existing homeowners. This matches the Soviet metaphor from OP. He is the guy of the party elite, the insiders, with some woke diversity just for show (like the USSR nationality policies under Stalin). He doesn't want people to come here and grow businesses and keep their own money, he either wants people who a) work for the government and get rich off the government or b) rely on the government and its "equity" policies. He doesn't want young people here who work hard and earn money in the private sector. So I would actualy say Marc Elrich is a Stalinist, not a liberal.
That’s actually one of the most enlightened things I’ve ever read on DCUM. Spot-on.
LOL. Is this what it’s like on Facebook?
