[b]I wouldn't say any of this is a trend.  I think society has become more open and supportive of trans people.  Kids who in previous generations would have either kept quiet or even not have been given the tools to understand themselves this way are now coming out and being supported.

One interesting thing to me is that there were more students identifying as gay/lesbian a decade + ago, but there are currently no openly gay/lesbian students at our school now, only the multiple trans kids.  [/b]

Well that is an interesting and relevant observation. Why are lesbian/gay kids transitioning to the opposite gender to such a degree? Don't you find that alarming? [/quote]
