They have the burden of persuading a county judge they should not be removed.  Basically, the board member would say "I showed up at Board meetings, so I wasn't neglecting my duties, and all the decisions I made were within my authority to make, so I didn't do anything wrong." Others might dig deeper and focus on whether the decisions made were consistent with the overarching responsibility of Board members to act in the best interests of students. +1, They were all of so following the recommendations of VDH by using the dashboard which cost some delays in the school startups.[/quote]

How did they vote or advocate on the school reopening, though? I know they basically never put reopening issues to a vote because they don’t want the record, and they largely do the reopening discussions at “work sessions,” not formal meetings. Laura Jane, for example, voted and advocated against reopening until the bitter end, even though (as pointed out upthread) her constituents in West Springfield and Burke largely chose hybrid/in person for their kids. Interestingly, Omeish came around to the reopening bloc eventually and started to side with the pro-openers. [/quote]
