Our five month old boy puppy is getting fixed at one year.  Never heard not doing it at 2 or 7.  We adopted and our rescues say between 6 and 1 year.[/quote]

For Goldens you want as much bone development as possible before spaying/neutering. In NYC were dogs cannot leave a pet shop without being spayed/neutered, you see a lot of long leg bones in Goldens. You want them to be shorter and more compact, stronger.[/quote]
