Team nanny here. Having the nanny help with the moving was the icing on the cake for me. Having her do that, whether you paid her or not, shows that you didn't respect her. Never in a million years would I ask a child care provider to do that.
Really? Funny how when I worked as a child care teacher, I was asked so many things by parents! They all knew that I had my own family and kids and that I worked full time, but I was brought kids with full diapers and told to change them! I was brought kids in pajamas and with night buggers in and told to wash them.. Those were just normal parts of the day. I did all of it, without saying a word. The "favors" I was asked to come babysit for a while weekend, and while at it would I be willing to clean the whole house? When I said no to all of it, the parents were so surprised! When I explained that I would need insurance to drive their kids in my car, special insurance in case something happened.... they were surprised. When I said my days off are important as I am with my kids and family, they seemed surprised! Oh, and they thought they were so awesome offering me $10 an hour in 2011! Seems to me, other parents are not as thoughtful as you claim to be.
