Can the basement have a kitchen? Separate entrance? 9-5 is not "only". You have to find somebody who likes their off time and won't be hanging out with family.
Unfortunately no kitchen in the basement or separate entrance is possible.
No seperate entrance would be against fire code. Who would want a job where they have to share kitchen,?
Having a separate entrance is not necessarily a fire code violation. The test is whether there are two accessible exits from every room in case there is a fire. A window works if it is large enough for a nanny to exit, low enough that she can get herself out. Only one exit has to be a door, and that door can connect to the rest of the house. Frankly, I prefer a shared kitchen. There's a different dynamic when you share common areas, and that's what I prefer. Others prefer not to mix with the family during their time off, but that's not me. ~Live-in nanny
