I"m not familiar with the discovery player rules or ECNL, but with how BRYC is structured, would a BRYC Bridge team player be a DP for the BRYC ECNL teams? Or would that only have been the case before ODSL folded and they tried to pick up a player from BRYC ODSL team (which is run through the rec program)?
Doesn't bryc have composite team that gets them to 30 players?
The ECNL discovery player program is only for players outside the club who come from clubs that don’t have their own ECNL program.
So technically a player at Herndon now can only play ECNL at Arlington?
They could go to any ECNL team, as long as their coach gives them permission.
Why would their coach have to give permission? Let’s say you are at an ECNL club but not on the ECNL team(by choice did not want to do the travel/time with pandemic at u13). Now at u14 your DD is interested(DD has trained with the coach in another program and they asked if she was coming out). She is not an ECNL player so she does not need permission from her coach. Herndon players would not need the permission of their coach because the club/team is not ECNL.
ECNL rules say the non-ECNL club needs to give permission to the player. And most ECNL clubs observe that and request the coach or club to send the ECNL club an email granting permission.
DA has a similar rule. At our club’s TD would refuse any request and bad mouth the girl to the DA club. Looks like more of the same.
With all due respect this is not what happens. Clubs allow players from other clubs to attend practices all the time without anybody notifying anybody. This happened on DA teams with kids practising on other DA teams during the season, and it happens to today with GA teams and ECNL teams.
No it happened. I will not get into the details but the TD and coach(non DA club) said no. After ID session DA club wanted the player to attend practice/train once a week. Club would not give permission. So yes it happens. Remember these players are major contributors to the old club. If these players leave it has a negative impact on the coach and club. It is against the interest of the coach, TD and club to lose these players.
