I don’t tip on take out orders
This, except a rare occasion as tipping is for service.
The service is taking your order, packing it up, dealing with you at the counter. They do not get minimum wage. Tips are assumed.
Hostess and cashiers are paid at least minimum wage.
If you’re getting food at a restaurant, hostesses are not always paid minimum wage because it’s assumed they get tips on takeout. Sometimes bartenders handle takeout, and they make less than minimum wage AND they have to tip out other staff members, like the people who box up your food and bring it to the bar or hostess stand. DH and I are poor by DCUM standards and we always tip at least 20%. I will never understand the wealthy people on this board who can’t add an additional $5-$10 to their order! Y’all are cheap.
