What kind of monster politician would have aspirations to eventually seek higher office? Will the evil never cease? Maybe he can build a BIKE LAND TO CONGRESS amirite?
Whatever his higher aspirations are, it appears he's trying to build a certain uber progressive platform, regardless of whether his constituents advocate or support it, so that he can use that in a future platform. He's using Alexandria as a stepping stone for his own ambitions and he is not putting the needs, wants and desires of Alexandrians first, which should be his job. He will run for the House because I don't think he can win on a state wide platform for Senate. What really was the nail in the coffin for me was when Silberberg filed her paperwork to run, and Justin asked his uber supporters to post the following ridiculous, misogynystic message on social media, asking people to copy and paste it and circulate it while asking for donations. 1) No one owes Justin anything, Silberberg was under no obligation to give Justin a "heads up" she was running, and it's ridiculous to hold that woman that standard, GMAFB and 2) apparently Justin wasn't prepared to run a "real campaign" and it wasn't fair that he was now going to have to actually do something to earn votes and this wasn't just a formality or rubber stamping (this part just blew me away, are they serious). Message is below. On March 26: "As some of you may be aware, our wonderful Mayor Justin Wilson was surprised today when another candidate filed to oppose him in the June 8 primary. That same "candidate" sent out a 1,037-word-long email on January 30 saying that they would not be running during this election cycle. They then posted the same essay (not sure how else to refer to it) on Facebook, where it remains. They did not do the courteous and customary thing and notify Justin that they would be opposing him. Justin had no reason to believe that he would be running a campaign. Although we all know that he is incredibly capable, we ask you to show him that we are behind him and that he has the unwavering support of his constituents. Although I hope you'd all donate to his campaign anyway, may I (and the others who helped me to come up with this idea) ask that you donate to Justin's campaign tonight... as in right now? We've come up with one option of $68.21 in reference to the primary date of June 8, 2021. Another option is $590 in honor of the $59 million the City will receive from the American Rescue Plan. Feel free to take that to $5,900! We will all be working to ensure that Justin wins on June 8, but let's be sure that today's poor-form events do not get him down by showing our support and donating tonight. Please feel free to share this by text, email, Facebook message or post, Twitter, Instagram, etc. The goal is to show Justin that, while others may not respect his incredible leadership and may choose to behave in an unfortunate way, he can count on us. Thank you in advance for your support of our remarkable mayor and friend, [NAME REMOVED] I just gave to Justin Wilson!"
