Living in Manhattan on UWS on Riverside is definitely different than living in Midtown or Downtown. It is much quieter.
Is there an equivalent to UWS style in DC proper?
So, upper West Side has a more Jewish, college flair. But it's also urban and has the river. There's no where in DC with the whole combo of that. Shepherd Park / East Silver Spring / Takoma Park / Silver Spring / Rockville have the Jewish thing. College near the river: Georgetown.
GWU is near the river, so I’d say West end/foggy bottom/DuPont? There are more condo/apartments there in addition to row homes. Georgetown is more like West Village, but honestly nothing in DC compares to UWS or Manhattan in general, not even Brooklyn, although some distant mappings between DC/Brooklyn could be made. DC is just way way less dense, so you won’t have the same density of street amenities and people on sidewalks, it’s not a bad thing necessarily.
