I think this year, it would be helpful to also know Adv Math, Reading and Level III.  Just revised slightly -

Do they give you this information? As in, the email will say "Your child didn't get into level IV but they have been placed in an Advanced reading class next year"?  Is that even a thing?[/quote]

No,  that's not a thing. That's determined on a school basis. [/quote]

But there is for 3rd graders. Last year was a strange year in which many students who would normally get it did not.  So, there will be significantly more 3rd grade applicants.  It will be interesting to see the results on them. OP had already put in grade as a data point.
