Heights = Opus dei = incredibly conservative patriarchal. Not a chance in hell I would send my boy there, but I am a bleeding heart liberal. If your are a right wing conservative, go for it.
+1. lots of trumpers.
Yes, ultra conservative. I may be wrong, but I heard Laura Ingraham has sons there? Whether she does or not, though, hers is the kind of viewpoint that is pervasive at this school.
Serious question, are you actually familiar with the school or are you making assumptions?
NP, is the school not extremely conservative and Trumpy?
We attended and were not Catholic. You need to understand that conservative and "Trumpy" do not go hand in hand. There are many political conservatives like us who are not and never will be Trumpers. We just believe in a small federal government, more power should be given to the states to control and make important decisions because they are closer to their own constituents, and the federal government should not tax and spend like the democrats do. It should tax only for the things that states cannot do: such as postage, militia, some federal highways, etc. The states are supposed to be doing everything for themselves and acting as incubators on controversial ideas or problems so the other 49 can follow. So we are Madisonian Conservatives. There are many like that at the Heights. There are many pro-life advocates (of course) at the Heights; there are also many anti death-penalty (a liberal point of view) because they are Catholic. So you cannot assume that just because someone is a Conservative that they are a Trumper. And Vice versa. Same with Republicanism - that's the party - we stopped being members of the party when Trump became the candidate in 2016. All that being said, the primary focus of the school is Catholicism and it is Opus Dei and Opus Dei members will be teaching your children. You have to be comfortable with that. It is also very much sink or swim. Don't expect any hand holding. And they don't believe in SN issues like ADHD, dyslexia, executive functioning, etc. You would be wise to select a SN school if your son has those issues.
Has there ever been a time that red states are financially independent? What about spending under red presidents?
Take it to the politics forum. The question being discussed is the political views represented in the parental community at the Heights. This is not the place to debate the views themselves.
But it's important to let someone interested in it to know that just being conservative doesn't mean you are a Trumpster. A lot of people don't even understand basics like that.
