On the girls side, talent does not move. Sure 1-2 girls move. Most people even ECNL and GA pick the club because it offers that level and is close enough to drive to to make it work with the rest of the family obligations. Three kids on my DD team are daughters of doctors, more than that of lawyers. They want a shot to play in college sure but they do not care if it does not work. kids are going to be doctors, lawyers, or I bankers. There are some people over committed but the core at each club is not moving absent losing that ECNL or GA status. This is not pro Arlington or pro McLean. It is just a fact.
This is very true, especially at Arlington and Mclean. The parents are on average more affluent than the parents at other clubs and are looking for wins and bragging rights, sure, but mostly they want their DD to have an elite college admissions hook, not a top-20 college soccer team. Watching how commitments are trending for both clubs, not a lot of difference between them in that regard. Parents are likely to choose the more convenient club and stay put if it’s working for their DD. Standard disclaimer: Boys’ sides are very different with different goals.
