The WTU started discussing a strike. Parents: Oh wow is WTU going to strike? The WTU announces that they will vote on whether to strike. Parents: Hmmm is WTU going to strike? The WTU takes a vote on whether to strike, which does not pass. Parents: Phew! Odd teacher on DCUM: SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE? You parents were all just fear-mongering with your discussion of the WTU striking!
+1 There's no smoke unless there's a fire.
Are you sure you know what that phrase means? There’s no strike, so the fire you’re speaking of is not here.
People don't go to the trouble of having a vote to decide whether to have a vote to strike (or whatever) when the people involved are all sensible and there's no chance of striking. If they were reasonable then they would have appreciated the fact that they've all received full pay for doing less than a full job for a year and they would be grateful about that, not (thinking about having a vote to decide whether to think about) complaining that they want something else.
