Unless it is voluntary for teachers and students.
Teachers have taken a year off. They don't need the summer off too.
You may think they have taken the year off, but in terms of working days they have not. What DCPS should have done was shift to 6 weeks off around Thanksgiving/Christmas and then go to school in the summer. DCPS can’t just decide to add more days onto the contract without paying more. It’s the same thing that happened during summer bridge (volunteer basis).
Teachers aren't allowed to strike either, but teachers don't care so much about that, do they? Or is the rule that if you don't call it a strike, then it's not a strike and it's allowed? Isn't that what teachers say? Maybe we could invent a new name for summer school so it's allowed too.
Teachers have been on strike for months. Schools should have reopened a long time ago.
This makes no sense and you must be a troll.
Bowser has said for months, going back to the summer, that she wants schools to open but teachers were refusing to come to work. My child's school has been saying the same thing -- they want to open, but teachers are refusing to come in.
+1. It may not be a strike technically, but we all know what the pp means when she says teachers have been on strike for months and it's disingenuous to pretend you don't.
No it’s not. We all know what this person is saying, but it’s not a strike. And calling it that doesn’t make it so.
So you know what they're saying and know that it's a metaphor, but instead of using your brain, you're being a pedant, as though that would help you make your case.
Wow look at you taking things posted on an anonymous forum personally. It’s not a strike. Calling it that doesn’t make your point any better either. I have no case and don’t particularly care if DCPS decides to hold mandatory summer school. My kid won’t attend. I’m sure they will offer some more hyped up same old summer school they always do.
Do you know what "figurative" means?
Nope...I’m just that dumb. Is that the answer you want?
