Why would you guys recommend gastric sleeve to OP instead of traditional weight loss surgery? Just curious
I am also curious?
Gastric sleeve is the most recommended procedure now, based on efficacy and risks. The gastric lap band is a less invasive procedure with a much higher rate of weight regain post surgery. The sleeve gastrectomy removes part of the stomach, unlike the band or bypass which just block part of the stomach. Sleeve gastrectomy thus is the only procedure which removes the source of hormones (did you know more serotonin is produced in the gut than in the brain?) which is thought to be why it produces the highest percentage weight loss in patients post-surgery. If you’re going for it, you might as well get sleeve gastrectomy especially if you have a really high BMI.
