I just want to stress that my issue with the letter is not the appreciation of teachers. When my son was in 5th, his teachers really didn't try at all with virtual and essentially disappeared, but since he entered GW, his teachers really have made virtual the best he can be - so I am appreciative of them, and I am appreciative of Principal Mazur. I think it is ok to thank those efforts. That being said, to suggest that the ACPS administration has handled this well is just an enormous slap in the face to parents of disabled students, who have been horribly mistreated and essentially abandoned by ACPS. The authors really should have thought long and hard about this group before writing this the way that they did.
Yes to all of this. The MS and HS teachers have overwhelmingly been wonderful. Decicated, understanding, creative, and kind. So appreciative of them. But this letter, and the administration's decisions, are indeed an enormous slap in the face to parents of disabled students and our most vulnerable populations.
