I don't understand Cain. His bio shows that he must be an unusually bright guy. Then he goes on Piers Morgan's show and demonstrates that after years as a conservative talk radio host and now candidate for president, he does not realize that he is pro-choice. And his switch from 9-9-9 to 9-0-9 for poor people seems to me to imply a multi-thousand dollar penalty for hitting the no-longer-poor threshold. I'm sure he will rectify both errors, and the ability to admit and correct one's errors is an admirable trait, But making such blatant errors in the first place is not very comforting to see in a potential president.
Pretty easy to explain, for better or worse. He obviously couldn't get the nomination pro-choice. Re the taxes, he couldn't care less about anyone not rich. Yes, I do sincerely believe that. So it doesn't have to be fair or make sense; it just has to be marketable. Given that the first version was already dandy for many of the rubes, he need only tweak it slightly until people get bored of hearing explanations of why it sucks.
