I think PP is spot on about needing to know who you are trying to attract. You could say something like: I’m an adventurous traveler but also enjoy my time at home. Work may take me to Paris or the jungles of Indonesia, sometimes for extended trips, but I always look forward to returning home to my two big dogs. I have a soft spot for animals and babies, and volunteer at the shelter and hospital, but my friends know me best for my (somewhat corny!) sense of humor and ability to rock out to some karaoke.
OP, please include a sense of what you 'do' when you are in Paris or Indonesia. Not what your work is but what you do, like, do you spend time at coffee shops or are you running the streets near your hotel so you can exercise and be outdoors all the time? Maybe skip including that your work takes you abroad for extended periods unless you are seeking people who 'want guaranteed physical distance'. Seriously. Dogs and babies also are code words that can be left out. Incorporate more detail about the type of action you seek / want / NEED into your day to day life to be who you are. What do you like to do that you wish you could share with someone; for example, watch tv, read the same books, introduce each other to new tv shows or new books? Describe what your ideal date would be doing with you (going to coffee shops or hiking familiar favorite local trails or finding a new trail to hike every weekend?) and what you would be talking about (sock puppet jokes, dog poo jokes, SNL jokes, Garfield jokes, riddles??). The reader needs to know where s/he slots in to your life (or lie) and who you are hoping to meet, otherwise you will sound like a gift bag of freebies for the taking or leaving. All the travel and volunteer work you do will make for great conversation with the right person; otherwise people are just imagining who they want you to be and won't give you the chance to be yourself first. Good luck!
