I'm a teacher and I will get the vaccine ASAP. I too am interested in why fellow teacher does not want to get it. There could be legitimate medical reasons for not getting the vaccine.
I can’t speak for others but I saw on CBS news that only 42% of African Americans intend to get the vaccine. There are of course historical reasons for this. Seeing as the vast majority of teachers/staff in DCPS are people of color I’d venture to say that PP isn’t alone.
I would dearly hope a credentialed teacher would be able to understand the science of the vaccine...
I dearly hope you understand history. If you don’t understand PPs comment is not about science, you need to do some research.
Dp: I understand the history and the mistreatment that recalls, but it should also be quite evident that this scenario is not like that history. Thinking people should be able to see the difference.
You're speaking from a place of privilege. This isn't about logic but history and coincidentally Covid has affected Black people (and Brown) the most, not due to genetics but as a direct result of this country's HISTORY.
I’m sorry but teachers are (supposedly) educated. There’s no reason for any educated person to believe in conspiracy theories about the covid vaccine. Zero.
+1. Yes history is history but let’s be real. No one is using minorities today for experiments with vaccines. There is something called clinical trials now you know. I mean Biden and the senators are getting it. Physicians and front line medical workers are getting it. It is about logic. You can live in the past and fear or you can accept science which is data driven.
I would expect there to be a large overlap between the teachers refusing to go back into the classroom, and those who will refuse the vaccine. Neither makes decisions based on data. This doesn't bode well for kids being able to get back to school...
