Many kids in AAP are not scoring in gifted ranges when they do take IQ tests, including OP's kid and one of my kids. Other kids who have 99th percentile WISC FSIQ are being rejected. IQ is not the primary consideration behind who gets into AAP. They're looking for other nebulous qualities that individual gifted IQ kids might not have and individual somewhat above average kids might have in abundance. [/quote]
