We just got back from DH's first and they couldn't complete the procedure! It wasn't (ahem) clean enough. WTAF??? we followed the prep instructions to the letter, nothing but broth and juice all day yesterday and oatmeal, steamed veg and potatoes the day before. He does have a history of constipation, but they never even asked. I am not super jazzed that he has to do this whole thing over again. I did read that there are other types of screenings that are not so invasive/don't require the same level of prep. Anyone have any info on that?
I'm sorry you went through that! I would ask the GI doctor who was performing it what s/he saw there - that might be a clue. They should be able to offer a different prep for the next time. There are several options. Also, not saying this caused it because who knows...but you are not supposed to have whole grains or anything fibrous starting 3 days before, also no green veggies. So oatmeal would generally be out. As would veggies, and if the potatoes had skins they would've too. Again, who knows the reasoning, the doctor could tell you more, but next time maybe try something that leans a little more high carb, and no veggies for the days just prior to the prep.
