Thanks, PP! Appreciate the rec. I've started researching std. poodles and am hoping to find one that breeds for temperament, and doesn't dock tails/remove dewclaws (at least no docking tails). It seems in some ways the AKC breeders for conformation and breeding for temperament are mutually exclusive.[/quote]

I got one of my current Standards from an unconventional but reputable and ethical breeder who breeds for temperament and offers docked as well as not docked tails. We are VERY happy with our poodle from her.  She is worth calling if you want to see what a breeder who is really going for temperament and would sell undocked tails is like.  She has very limited litters per year since she breeds at her house and her puppies are raised in her home with her kids.
