I have a friend that lived, breathed and would die for black power. HBCU grad, super woke, beautiful, deep skinned. Married a white man that is conservative. When Obama came in my office, the strange theories and rants trickled out to our surprise. Okay, that’s fine, we don’t live in echo chambers. But then it became an identity issue. Almost brainwashed into believing things that just contradict the person she truly was before this man. We respect her, but people change, and it’s not always in the direction we hope they will.

I can also say the same about a very old relative, also black, grew up when John Lewis was marching. She listened to fox all day and is like a completely different person. The internet and social media makes it worse.

Suffice to say, who knows how this administration changed people or why. But it’s wrong. The lack of tolerance is wrong, the hate is wrong, the bullying and abuse is wrong. And it is wrong for people to be attacked when they push back against that.[/quote]
