Is anyone else in this situation? I have had about 30 conversations with my boss about a potential plan that is totally dependent on the current school plan. My boss is patient and accommodating... to a point. I am fearing for the day when my company is going to insist that I commit to a schedule. I’m basically about to have to choose between hiring a full time nanny or reducing my role at work- both of which would leave me with a significantly reduces take home pay. If I knew it was a few more months, I would push through but if it’s a whole year, we might need to consider a major downsize or move out of the area.
I hear you. I am the only person with small children in my office, so no one needs/wants to hear an explanation of Phase 1, metrics, whatever (and it's especially complicated because I have kids in different phases). I keep saying I will be back two days a week when kids are back in school, and then pushing it back. I don't like how it makes me look, and it also makes it really hard to plan and commit to anything. They are being really great about it but I worry about all of the same things you do.
