[/quote] This.[/quote] I'm not a progressive, but I will say, that if I didn't have to worry about medical costs (esp. as DH and I are getting older) and ever rising college costs (kids nearing college age), I'd be ok with higher taxes. More older people who generally have higher paying jobs would be able to retire earlier, thus allowing younger people to get higher paying jobs. I think the issue with many Americans is that they are used to lower taxes, and so even if you raise it by 1%, people go nuts. I do think MoCo is too much of a nanny state, but I think OP is ridiculous to compare it to Cuba. You clearly have no clue what it's really like to live in a communist country. My father escaped communists in his home country.[/quote]
