I get all that. My biggest concern is sports in hs. He loves playing sports. Loves loves. His height is going to put him at a disadvantage no matter his skill level. I do worry.
One of my friends is short, and he loves playing basketball and still plays on an adult rec league. Could he play on a varsity team in college? No. But he was fast and had hustle and was able to enjoy the game his entire life. Maybe your son can't play on the HS varsity team, depending on the high school, but there is likely to be somewhere that he can play if he loves the game. And there are other sports where height doesn't matter as much -- soccer, baseball, and hockey, for example. I think your angst is silly. His life isn't over. There's no reason he can't be successful and happy.
