The fact that you're asking about weekly socialization blows my mind. Expand it out to monthly and I might be able to contribute 1-2 social activities. Unless smiling and waving at a neighbor as we pass each other walking our dogs counts as a social life?
Really? Do you work long hours or have something demanding a lot of time?
Full time job, active volunteer in PTA and several kids activities, some minor DIY home renovations underway, and I guess I'm just not a very social person - I'd rather spend my little free time with a good book or enjoying a glass of wine with DH on the patio.
PTA and kids activities is socializing.
Really? Then I guess I'm more social than I thought. But for volunteering at the kids' activities, I'm 100% interacting with a group of 8-10 year olds, and only chat with their parents at pick-up/drop-off (or in today's world, log-on/log-out). We do always make sure there are at least two adults present, and I'm grateful if more stay to help out, but we're all focused on the kids. For PTA, I guess there is some socializing, but a lot of my volunteer time is behind the scenes stuff, mostly solo - organizing the accounting records or planning some activity.
Me again... Just to add, for the kids activities, I spend 3-4 hours solo planning for every hour-long group session. That time sure isn't very social!
