For those of you who require a certain number/mins of activities, what would you or did you do if you had a child that seriously pushed back on your requirements?
Well of course this happened. My daughter hated soccer with a passion. She had a couple tantrums about it. I reminded her that that was the sport she chose for the season and that we had paid good money for it, that the coaches were there for each practice and to be respectful of their time, and we showed up for each practice on time until the (rec) season ended. And she never played soccer again.
I guess I mean your requirements in general. Like if you required an instrument specifically say, and they just hated it no matter what instrument they tried.
Pp who just posted about kids who chose their passion. I don’t think we would have forced ours to stay with something but we would say something like you need to go x number of times or we rented this instrument for the year so you need to finish this band class. There’s a fine line between making them miserable and not wanting to try something for fear of having to stick with it if they don’t like it. Also ours kids were free range long ( when they were not at their passion) before others were allowing it. Our kids are in college now and were born around 9 11 and sniper era. Being allowed to be Free range was the most beneficial for them from what our kids tell us.
