Brother's kid had 99 fever a couple of weeks ago. Sent home from day care. Ped said no need for covid test - probably HFM. Three days later, 99 fever again, finally got covid test and was positive. By then entire family had it and they had exposed but not infected our parents.
This type of scenario is exactly why we kept our preschooler who woke up with a 99 fever home until we got the negative COVID test result. Our ped didn’t want to test either do we went to urgent care. It only took a few days to come back. It’s inconvenient but it’s part of being a good member of your school’s community. Why would you want to be the one who brings COVID to school because you decided it wasn’t that without actually getting a test? Stop making 2019 decisions in 2020.
I don't understand why the ped didn't want to test? Do pediatrician offices just not want to be testing for covid period? It would be easier if they said this upfront.
