OP here - I dot have kids there, just watching it all unfold. I don’t know the specifics like if they can order food or not. I just want the recipes. 😂
They can order food to be delivered. NYU is giving them a $100 gift card for that purpose. Anything else is at their expense. The food people are complaining about is free. This is the cost of being on campus in NYC. Most colleges there aren’t allowing it at all.
THIS!!! These kids reported a couple of weeks earlier than their meal and room contract period.. The room and board and food is they are complaining about is "Free" (or included). My kid is there and says they have too much food. The only issue is that it is not warm food, but my 19yo doesn't really care. My kid was put in a separate dorm to quarantine because the roommate was in their assigned dorm. Because of this, and thinking that the delivery would not make it on time, NYU gave my kid $30 GrubHub gift card for the first day's dinner. (Dinner was ultimately delivered.) I think NYU realizes that this is not ideal and is trying to fix it. They gave each student $100 when they realized that the contracted company couldn't scale, and just announced that for the next week each kid get $30 per day just for dinner (breakfast and lunch will stil be delivered as of right now.)
