The reported number of cases at GU is misleading. It suggests a large outbreak on campus, but that isn’t what the number reflects. That’s the number of students, faculty, and staff members who have reported being Covid-positive since the beginning of the pandemic. It definitely doesn’t mean they got it on campus or were ever on campus while positive for Covid. I’m pretty sure it includes students who returned home with it from study abroad last spring. No doubt there are also people who got Covid but who did not report it to the university. [/quote]

Correct. Georgetown reports every time a member of the university community reports a case, regardless of whether the person has physically been on campus recently; since this started in mid-March, I can’t remember seeing a case reported where the person had been on campus in the two weeks prior to a positive test. The point was simply that the NYT data that the first poster cited is bad. Extremely sloppy reporting. (And I’m a liberal who subscribes to the NYT.) [/quote]
